Burglar bagged by eagle-eye patrol

He searched the area and found the man hiding behind a wall.

A housebreaker was detained by ET Rapid Response in the early hours of Friday, 17 April.

Ashley Naidoo was patrolling on Lewis Drive when he noticed a man in the distance, who on seeing the oncoming vehicle, disappeared behind some bushes.

“He searched the area and found the man hiding behind a wall,” said ET Rapid Response South Coast managing member, Tony Lokker. “He tried to flee, but was apprehended. In his possession were clothing and jewellery, as well as housebreaking implements.”

Toti SAPS arrested the man for being in possession of suspected stolen property.

“ET then posted the arrest on social media in the hope that the victims would see it and report the theft. Fortunately, the victim saw the post and went to Amanzimtoti police station on Saturday morning and opened a case of housebreaking in Umdoni Road.

Well done to Ashley for being vigilant and to the complainant for opening a case. It is important to report all crimes committed, as it gives SAPS and the security forces more information as to where and what crimes are being committed,” said Tony.
