Hijacked car recovered

This is a result of the crime prevention unit which the CCPO and Blue Security launched last month.

The Community Crime Prevention Organisation (CCPO) had success in fighting crime in the last week.

A hijacker was apprehended in a stolen vehicle on Sunday morning, 30 August.

CCPO operations manager, Leon Joone said a member was on patrol in Old Main Road when he was stopped and told a vehicle had just been hijacked.

“With assistance from the SAPS dog unit, we chased the hijacked vehicle and managed to catch one of the hijackers and recover the vehicle.”

The man was handed over to KwaMakhutha SAPS.

Two housebreakers were apprehended in Umdoni Road on Tuesday night, 1 September.

“Senior supervisor Rupert Smit posted guards in various areas where crimes are being committed,” said Leon.

“Assisted by W/O Martin Booyens and ET Security, the CCPO guards observed the two men. When they were searched, housebreaking implements were found in their possession.”

Toti SAPS detained the men and further investigations revealed one of the men had previous convictions in 2004 and 2011.

“This is a result of the crime prevention unit which the CCPO and Blue Security launched last month,” said Leon. “If more people join the CCPO, we can have an even bigger force out there. With more members, we can eradicate these criminals from our area.”
