Five people rescued in two incidents at Isipingo Beach and Warner Beach
A three-year-old child was among five people rescued in incidents on South Coast beaches this week.
LIFEGUARD heroics led to the rescue of five people on October 8 in two incidents, one at Isipingo Beach and one at Warner Beach.
In a statement Lifesaving South Africa (LSA) said there were no casualties or injuries in both cases.
Isipingo beach
A three-year-old child was swept in by a wave at a non-bathing site.
“Lifeguards from a nearby post rushed to the scene, successfully resuscitated the child, and supported emergency services with hospital evacuation,” said LSA in the statement, expressing gratitude to Mluleki Mthethwa and Keown Delomoney for their life-saving intervention.

Warner beach
A ski boat, The Flying Dutchman, suffered engine failure, and the three crew members were rescued by lifeguards.

LSA said the lifeguards assisted the skipper and vessel back to shore safely, and none of the crew members suffered any injuries.
Zamo Mkhize and his team were praised for their outstanding response and support.
“We would like to thank the lifeguards for their prompt assistance and guidance. We are pleased to report that no injuries or damage occurred. Thank you eThekwini Municipality and your team for your continued support,” said Dave Murgatroyd, chairman of the Warnadoone Skiboat Club.
