Racism is all about perspective

Depending on one's point of view, the 'K-word' and the 'W-word' are synonymous.

EDITOR – One could hardly miss the 3 September Durban newspaper headliner: “Racism claims at KZN club – Rugby union launches probe over K-word slur.”

Racism, in any form, is of course unacceptable but it does seem that there is a hue and cry, only when the perpetrators are white.

After all, here in the city of Durban, we have our lawless city council casting whites in the role of enemy and intent on destroying sports clubs throughout the city, because, as stated by various officials, they are “too white.” I think this is quite significant, however, I haven’t noticed this fact in any headline.

While I don’t claim to be an expert on anything, I do have a fairly good understanding of the English language. The record shows that anti-white racism is actually the prime motivator behind the so-called SAFA Academy at Kings Park, which is, in reality, an undisguised con job. But I haven’t seen this in any headline.

I have requested that they restore some balance to their reporting and would like to see the “W-word” in the headlines every now and then. After all, the word ‘white’ is openly used in its most contemptuous and derogatory sense, every single day, by a host of hatemongers.

Depending on one’s point of view, the ‘K-word’ and the ‘W-word’ are synonymous.
