Help with car on fire appreciated

A passing motorist and his son on their way to a sporting event stopped to see if they could assist us.

EDITOR – There are still knights in shining armour out there.

On Saturday morning at 5am, my husband and I left home to go to hospital for an eye operation.

We got as far as the Spar on Kingsway in Warner Beach when we realised that the back of our vehicle was on fire. My husband jumped out, opened the bonnet, disconnected the battery and then ran to the boot to see if he could put out the fire. He could not and burnt his hands quite badly while trying to extinguish the fire.

A passing motorist and his son on their way to a sporting event stopped to see if they could assist us. He offered us the little water he had but it wasn’t enough. His son started running for water, then remembered he had an energy cold drink in his jacket pocket, took it out shook it up, opened it slightly, and sprayed it all over the fire. It succeeded in putting the fire out.

We are so grateful for their intervention. We never found out who they were, but they saved our vehicle from being completely burnt out.

You know who you are. Thank you very much.
