Barbara is women’s handicap champ at Toti BC

ANOTHER enthralling finals game took place at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club on Saturday, 13 September.

Barbara Beamson and Tokkie de Kock battled it out for the handicap championship. Honours were even at first and then Barbara pulled away to lead 20-9 after 14 ends. However Tokkie proved her tenacity by hanging on and picking up points in the next five ends. But Barbara’s experience showed through and she won 21-14 in the 20th end. Well done to both women for a great game.

Congratulations to Julie Sutherland and Amanda Ninow who are through to the semi-finals of the Port Natal pairs. Hard lines to our other teams who did not quite make it. The semis and final will take place on Sunday, 21 September at 8.30am at Durban Wanderers for those who are able to go along and support our girls. Good bowling to you both, the club is behind you.

On Friday, Talla and Lesley Stephens-Viviers’ key number three was drawn, but unluckily the key did not fit. Next week’s draw is worth about R5,500. As well as the prize money getting higher, the odds of winning get better every week as less keys remain. Buy your tickets early to be in with a chance.

In the attendance draw, social member Crecia Allers’ tab number 68 was drawn but she was not present, so next week’s draw will be worth R300. Ian MacDonald won the 100 board.

The AGM is on Saturday, so everyone make an effort to attend by 8am, voting will close at 9am promptly with prize-giving to follow 30 minutes later. All winners and runners-up, wear club colours, as well as committee members. Other members are free to wear mufti. Please bring a plate of snacks for the prize-giving ceremony.
