WELL done to Glen Scorgie, Eric Klopper and Dave McMillian who won their men’s nominated trips game at Amanzimtoti Bowling Club against Vince Marriott, Dennis Hughes and Trevor Zulch after peeling in the 15th end.

In an even tighter game, Lofty van Tonder, Barry Bush and Mickey Roche prevailed over Coy Schrauwen, Alec Stirzaker and Ray Robinson by one shot.

In a first round women’s drawn trips match, Jeanne Alexander, Lynn Joubert and Lesley Stephens-Viviers had a strong win against Elsie Walker, Vera Broskie and Marie van der Walt. Jeanne had another good win in the women’s drawn fours with her team of Michelle Pitchers, Denise Bingham and Margaret van Belkum who beat Robyn Hutton, Jacqui Fouché, Talla Stephens-Viviers and Bernie Bretherton. Nita Meumann, Amanda Ninow, Jackie Holdrick and Gaynor Snyman got the better of Jenny Delport, Vera Broskie, Tokkie de Kock and Karen Shepherd; and Doreen Salmond, Leonie Mills, Linda McGregor and Lesley Stephens-Viviers lost to Elsie Walker, Jane Coetzee, Marie van der Walt and Maureen Griffin.

Well done to Nita Meumann, Jane Coetzee, Vera Broskie and Denise Bingham who won this year’s annual Port Natal squad fundraising tournament at Northlands.

At TGIF Leigh Callaghan won the 100 board. Crecia Allers was present and won attendance draw so next week’s draw will revert to R100. Robyn Hutton picked the key in the key draw, but sadly for her it would not turn in the lock. Next week’s draw is worth R3,600.

Note the following changes of dates due to the upcoming show. The mixed 2-4-2 will be brought forward to Friday, 20 November instead of 27 November. The November quiz has been cancelled; the Christmas quiz and last of this year will take place on Wednesday, 2 December.

Coy Schrauwen, Alec Stirzaker and Dave Kemp won the nominated nixed trips, and the 2nd session was won by Brian Diener, Vince Marriott and Shawn Sutherland.

The winners of Big Chicks were Greg McLeod, Doug and Lynn Joubert and Mike Pitchers. Runners-up were Adie Fuller, Guelfo Cobianchi, Rob Troughton and Karen Shepherd. In 3rd place were Colin Coetzee, Vish Studinski, Brian Cox and Maureen Griffin; and 4th were Vince Marriott, Vince Phaal, Andrew Pearce and Leigh Callaghan. The 1st session went to Andrew Walker, Barry Buckland, Chris vd Westhuizen and Maggie Robertson; and the 2nd session to Les John, Nita Meumann, Doug Walton and Andy Jones. The lucky 13th prize went to Peter Callaghan, Clive Frank, Shayne Tocher and Michelle Pitchers; and most bowls was won by Coy Schrauwen, Keith Berry, Brenda Mulligan and Wessie van der Westhuizen. Thanks as always go to the generous sponsors, Gladys Hughes, Brian Pascoe and Jerry Gertzen of Orange River Cellars, to greens staff as well as bar and kitchen staff, and to Dave Gardner for his organisation. The next Big Chicks will be on Sunday, 17 January 2016.

Note that the ever-popular barflies will resume on the morning of Sunday, 6 December. This is a fun way to start the December holidays for young and old alike. All you need are flat shoes as bowls will be provided. Phone the club for details 031-903 3857.

Many happy returns go this week to club manager, Talla Stephens-Viviers, and good health is wished to all who are sick.
