Suspected drug dealer nabbed in Wentworth

The police were acting on information received about the suspect who was in possession of drugs in one of the flats in Wentworth.

THE Wentworth Metro Street Crime Unit arrested a foreign national at the flats complex known as Barracks on Lansdown Road after he was allegedly found in possession of drugs recently.

The suspect (37) is expected to appear at the Wentworth Magistrate’s Court soon on charges of possession of drugs.

According to a source, the police were acting on information received about the suspect being in possession of drugs in one of the flats in Wentworth.

A source said, “A foreign national was searched and found to be in possession of 98 heroin capsules, 22 pieces of rock cocaine and eight Mandrax tablets. The suspect also had more than R4000 cash believed to be the proceeds of drug sales. The suspect has previously been arrested for the same offence. The sale of highly addictive drugs have a detrimental affect on our community. This also leads to an increase in crime in the community such as theft, robbery and house break-ins.”
