Residents urged to join oil and gas awareness march

The march is to educate people about the associated risks of oil and gas exploration in the ocean.

The South Durban Community Environmental Alliance (SDCEA) is hosting an oil and gas awareness march from Suncoast Casino Promenade to Amphitheatre Promenade on June 7, at 08:30 for 09:00.

Desmond D’sa, SDCEA’s coordinator, said the march will consist of environmental organisations who will come together with activists, ocean lovers, researchers, legal advisers and fishers in solidarity against oil and gas exploration.

“The march is to educate people about the associated risks of oil and gas exploration in our ocean, the impact on our marine life and the livelihood of people who rely on the ocean for their survival. We urge all residents to come join us,” he said.
