Vehicle found stripped of parts hours after reported stolen

The vehicle was hijacked in the Montclair area and was found abandoned in Lamontville a few hours after it was reported stolen.

A CAR that was reportedly hijacked in Montclair early on Sunday, December 8 was traced to Lamontville area where it was found nearly completely stripped.

A security company, PT Alarms, said in a statement that the driver was accosted by armed suspects in Montclair who demanded the keys for the vehicle.

“The suspects then drove off – leaving the victim stranded. Alerts of a hijacked vehicle from Montclair led responders to find the car, extensively stripped in Lamontville.

“The PT Alarms Chatsworth ambassador, Tracker Connect and PT Alarms ground teams were deployed to search for the vehicle.

“The hijacked vehicle had been seen in the Lamontville area. The team made their to that direction and successfully recovered the vehicle which was left abandoned and badly stripped.

“The vehicle was then taken to Lamontville Police Station for further investigation,” PT Alarms said in a statement.

In a separate incident more than a month earlier, a courier driver was shot dead in Montclair on Ronald Avenue on October 21.

According to the police, the victim (33) was delivering goods to a business on Ronald Road when two unknown men in a silver-grey Nissan Almera exited their vehicle and opened fire before fleeing the scene.

The second quarter of crime statistics for 2024/2025 financial year showed that over 2 000 vehicles had been stolen between July to September this year. According to a report, 2 401 vehicles which include sedans, hatchbacks and coupes were hijacked between July and September.
