Just in: Taxi collision leaves 20 people injured on the M4
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes after a taxi collided with a light motor vehicle on the M4.
TWENTY people have been injured in a car collision on the M4 Southern freeway near the old airport. The accident happened around 13:00 today (February 16).

According to a statement from ALS Paramedics, a fully loaded taxi collided with a light motor vehicle and rolled multiple times before it came to rest near the Himalaya off-ramp.

ALS paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said, “ALS Paramedics Medical Services arrived on the scene to find total carnage after a taxi and a light motor vehicle collided on the freeway before the taxi overturned multiple times, coming to rest on its side.
“Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and set up a triage system before calling for more ambulances as well as Advanced Life Support Paramedics to assist with the multiple casualty scene,” said Jamieson.
A total of 20 people had sustained various injuries ranging from moderate to serious and were stabilised on the scene before being transported to various Durban hospitals.
Jamieson added, “At this stage the events leading up to the accident are unknown, however SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.”
