Woodlands gears up for fun bowls day

There was no competitive bowls played at Woodlands during the week.

THERE was no competitive bowls played at Woodlands Bowling Club during the week.

The tabs are always in for Peter and Wyn Brammage will take place on Saturday, 12 October at 1.30pm. A reminder that the AGM takes place in the tabs room at 1.30pm on Saturday, 28 September.

A fun bowls day is scheduled for Sunday, 29 September. Cost per player is R10, with entries accepted until 8.30am on the morning and play starting at 9am. All non-bowlers are welcome and bowls can be supplied with the only request being flat-soled shoes must be worn.

There are lots of prizes on offer so go and enjoy the day. The next shirts and skirts fours is on Sunday, 22 September. Contact Arther Carlyle on 076-588-7377 to enter a team or alternatively to book your place.

George Moore, Kobus and Keith Jenkins picked the right numbers for Friday night's meat draw. Abie Joubert scooped the R500 in the monthly bowls 100 club. The lotto jackpot was once again a carryover but Rosa Vincent won the bonus number pool. Anthony Smith's name was first out in the Saturday swindle to choose the filofax on offer. Other winners being Greg Berry (2), Brian Elliott, Dennis Tarbotton (2), Keith Hughes and Derek Botha. The national Lotto bonus number draw lined the pocket of Dave Vincent for the second week running. Theuns Coetzee is not in the best of health at the moment and is wished a speedy recovery from all at the club.

Greg 'Chubbydale' Berry is thinking of auditioning for the next masterchef South Africa, specialising in roasted bambi and lamb curry. He claims to have vast experience from all his flying trips around the country, sampling copious quantities od diverse South African cuisine with the old Klippie thrown in. Watch out Gordon Ramsay. All pool players contesting the club championship are requested to get their first matches played by 21 Spetember. Results of this week's matches: Keith Jenkins beat Rosa Vincent and JP Wessels had a good win against Danny Smit. A darts competition is planned for the next Friday night after the snowball.

The entry fee is R5 per player and there will be prizes on offer.
