Breakfast shirts and skirts cut short due to weather

IN miserable weather on Sunday, 27 October, 14 teams contested the monthly breakfast shirts and skirts at Woodlands Bowling Club.
In the end, only one session of 10 ends was played.
Victor ludorums were Peter Tayfield, Ernie Lochner, Gwen Tait and Brian Hollis on +11, while Mike McFarland, Jumbo Nel, Joe McNamara and Dave Mathews were the bridesmaids on +7. The drawn consolation chocolates were claimed by Robin Grobelaar skip, Jeff Bou third, Dave Vincent second and Rosa Vincent lead.
Ellen Loots picked the right numbers for the beef. Two 60/40 boards paid dividends to Dixie (R40), Richard Hendicott, (R20+R40) and Chris Klopper (R20).
New member Norman Moore is welcomed to the club. The club extends its condolences on the death of long-time member Jack Lorio, who will be fondly remembered for his prowess and humour on the bowling greens and also as a superb fisherman.
There will be a memorial service in the club hall at noon on Wednesday, 30 October to celebrate Jack’s life.
A reminder to all members that the club AGM takes place at 6pm in the hall on Wednesday, 30 October. Aldina Swanepoel, Derek Botha and Shaun Coetzee won the meat in Friday night’s draw while the snowball pool was boosted by the absence of Colin Harting.
Keith Hughes won the cooler bag and Reds raffle, with Carole Lauderdale winning the goodies hamper.
The numbers 2-9-10 produced yet another go in lotto jackpot with Dennis Tarboton and Dave Leuchars sharing the bonus pool.
JP Wessels threw the best darts to snaffle the chicken in Friday’s darts competition, followed by Norman Moore in second place.
Rob de Wildt drew his own name to choose the gammon in the Saturday swindle and also had the third choice.
Other winners being Dennis Holloway and Dave Leuchars. Chubbydale Greg Berry has egg on his face, not being the remnants of breakfast , but the resounding wap the Sharks dished out to Province in the final.
After a trip downtown to verify the location of the Butterworth Hotel, and some vociferous discussion Tap Tap finally conceded to Dennis Tarboton that the hotel is in Field Street.
This while Trevor Hubbard who contributed to a lot of the noise quietly ducked home to avoid the embarrassment. Rob de Wildt predicted the closest outcome of the quess the score in the rugby final to scoop the pool. Dawn Tarboton won the National Lotto bonus number draw.
