Rina prevails in ding-dong women’s point singles bowls

The port Natal men's and women’s trips kicked off at various venues on Sunday, 2 February.

TWO domestic bowls matches were played on Saturday, 1 February at Woodlands Bowling Club.

Rina Harper and Colleen Blenner-Hassett had a ding-dong game in the women’s point singles, with the scores 96–94 in favour of Colleen. However Rina picked up eight points to win 102–96. Arthur Carlyle and Daphne Els had a walk in the park over Dave and Rosa Vincent, prevailing 28–8 in the nominated mixed pairs. The port Natal men’s and women’s trips kicked off at various venues on Sunday, 2 February with two men’s and one women’s team representing Woodlands BC. Rina Harper, Gloria Rice and Eleanor Stuart played Hillcrest and won one and lost two to bow out.

Dixie Dix, Mike McFarland and Ralph Mostert, playing at Durban Bowling Club, fared better by winning two and losing one match, where shot difference will decide the outcome of their section. Norman Moore, Alan Bower and Andy Cloete, playing at Hilliary Bowling Club had a rendezvous with the wailing wall by losing all three matches.
