Woodlands BC men remain unbeaten in PN league
The drawn chocolates will sweeten the teeth of Dot Fergusson skip.

ON Saturday, 22 March the second round of the men’s Port Natal league was played at Woodlands Bowling Club.
Playing at home in the seventh division, Woodlands kept their unbeaten sequence by accounting for Hillcrest 5-0, (shots 41-35).
Rina Harper had a good win of 107 to 83 over Gloria Rice in the round robin women’s point singles while the final round of the women’s nominated pairs saw one match taking place. Linda Hewer and Lyn Carlye breezed by the sister combination of Coileen Blenner-Hasset and Daphne Els to win 24-12.
The monthly breakfast shirts and skirts took place on Sunday, 23 March with 16 teams taking part. Top dogs of the day were Arthur Carlyle, William Richardson, John Yunnie and Yvonne Roos on 4+13. The first and second sessions were claimed by Richard Hendicott, Mike and Jackie Freeman and Chris Klopper with 2+6 and Charles and Debbie Nortje and Nicola and Michelle Bauristhene on 2+17 respectively. The drawn chocolates will sweeten the teeth of Dot Fergusson skip, Jumbo Nel third, Eleanor Stewart second and Andy Cloete lead. Two 60/40 boards were drawn, with the lion’s share going to Jumbo Nel and Eleanor Steward and the scraps to Tony Cloete and Phillip Pieterse.
Upcoming events include bingo on Wednesday, 26 March on the bar verandah at 6.30pm for 7pm; on Sunday, 30 March fun bowlers are welcome and bowls can be supplied. Breakfast is available from Colin’s Kitchen. On Wednesday, 2 April, there is casual open pairs bowls. Contact Linda on 031-462-1618. Ansie Holder, Dennis Tarboton and Stan McNamara picked the right numbers for Friday night’s meat draw and Keith Hughes won the main club hamper raffle. Cobus van Vuuren had first pick in the Saturday swindle and plus once more with the other winners being Dave Leuchars times two, de Wildt, Roger Turner, John Campbell and Henry Hamilton. Carol Tarboton won the R150 national lotto bonus number draw.
The second end of the braai verandah has been enhanced with the addition of a new sliding door to the bar section completing the closing-in project.
Condolences are extended to Pat and Jo Anne Jordan and family on the recent death of Dawie on 23 March. Dawie was a longstanding bowler and club member who will be remembered for his mischevious, dry sense of humour.
