Carlo (7) goes for gold in martial arts championship
Carlo Webster was just three-years-old when he started martial arts.

SEVEN-year-old Carlo Webster did not let his small stature get in the way of taking the top spot in the Full Contact Martial Arts Association national championship held on Friday and Saturday, 5 and 6 April.

The championships which took place in Kempton Park, Johannesburg had all nine provinces competing and served as selections for the world championships, which will take place in November, in England.

The Glenardle Primary school learner placed first in weapons, second in forms and second in traditional contact sparring at the championships.

He was just three-years-old when he started martial arts, thanks to the inspiration of his father and international gold medallist veteran sensei, Carl Webster of the Academy of Martial Arts Subarashii Dojo.
Young Carlo said he was so happy when he won in weapons. “I like martial arts because it is fun and helps me to exercise. I want to be just like my dad when I’m grown up,” he said smiling.
