Park United trashes Merebank City 5-0

The Wentworth team, Park United capitalised and added four more goals through Jose Renaud, Mark Hector and Devante Rooks.

PARK United is over the moon after winning a soccer match against Merebank City. The match was held at the Badulla Sports ground recently, with more than five soccer teams for the MFA Association Premier League.

Boosted by their home advantage, the Wentworth team dominated their rivals, winning 5-0. Park United striker Daniel Louw scored the first goal in the first half.

In the second half, Park United continued to dictate the ball possession, while Merebank City struggled to contain the relentless pressure.

Park United capitalised, adding four more goals through Jose Renaud, Mark Hector and Devante Rooks sealing a comprehensive win.

Both sides started brightly, but Park United’s pace in attack and composure in possession quickly dismantled the Merebank defensive line.

Merebank goalkeeper produced several key saves to keep the scoreline from ballooning even earlier. Park United suffered a setback when defender Deylin Ogle received a straight red card.

Reduced to 10 men, the Wentworth side refused to drop their intensity, instead pushing forward with even greater urgency.

Park United coach Daylin de Bruine said, “We’ve been working on our transitions and finishing for weeks, and tonight it all came together.

“The boys showed heart, hard work and determination even after the red card. My team outplayed the opposition, a good performance all round, well deserved win. Even going down to 10 men the fighting spirit and the positive attitude of the players were the difference today, proud of my team, these are the moments that define character.”
