Injured all-rounder Corbin Bosch to miss SA A tour to Sri Lanka

Bosch has been replaced by another all-rounder, Beyers Swanepoel, in the squad.

All-rounder Corbin Bosch has been ruled out of the South Africa A team’s cricket tour to Sri Lanka next month.

Cricket South Africa confirmed on Tuesday that Bosch would not turn out against Sri Lanka A after picking up a back injury.

“The 28-year-old experienced progressive back discomfort and underwent scans which revealed stress reaction,” the federation said in a statement.

“While further scans showed healing, the scans also indicated that he will not recover completely in time for the squad’s departure to the subcontinent on 31 May.”

Replaced by Swanepoel

Bosch, the son of retired Proteas player Tertius Bosch, has never represented a national senior team, but the former U-19 star would have been hoping to showcase his potential.

He has been replaced by another all-rounder, Beyers Swanepoel, in the South Africa A squad.

Swanepoel, who turns out for the Warriors on the domestic circuit, will also be eager to prove himself should the 24-year-old player make his international debut against Sri Lanka A.

He will link up with the rest of the 15-man South Africa A squad later this month ahead of the three-week tour which includes three one-day games and two four-day matches.

The team will be captained by Tony de Zorzi and he will have some experienced players to back him up including Keegan Petersen, Kyle Verreynne, Gerald Coetzee, Tristan Stubbs and Zubayr Hamza, who have all competed for the Proteas.
Giving some younger players opportunities, the squad which was announced last week also includes the likes of 19-year-old former junior star Dewald Brevis and 21-year-old prospect Jordan Hermann.
