Grade 1 form on show at Scottsville

The Dennis Drier trained-Chestnuts N Pearls won the Grade 1 Golden Slipper over Greyville 1400m in July and the form of that win has come into question with the disappointing runs of Sapsan, La Strada and Melliflora recently so all eyes will be on her to see what happens in Race 5, a Conditions Plate at Scottsville on Sunday.

It has not helped graded form followers that her next fourth place finish behind Lauderdale has also come into question with both Lauderdale losing her next two starts and very unlucky loser Persian Rug running unplaced at Turffontein last week.

The conditions of this race suit Chestnut N Pearls as does the drop to 1200m as she won over this track and trip on debut.

With the help of a 4kg claim from apprentice Eric Ngwane the Var filly Miss Varlicious looks the obvious danger but one has to trust that the Grade 1 form may be good enough to get Chestnuts N Pearls home first.
