Tarry, Khumalo to orchestrate an Algoa Cup victory

Champion trainer Sean Tarry makes his debut raid on the Eastern Cape with two runners – Orchestrated and Stonehenge – and the yard is in such outstanding form it seems foolish to oppose him. The fact he has put S’manga Khumalo on Orchestrated indicates the five-year-old son of Jay Peg is the stable elect.

Both Tarry and Khumalo believe the fitting of blinkers have brought about a massive change in this horse’s attitude and they seem to have given him a new zest for racing. His last run was on the sand in which he finished a 1.50-length second to Ahlaam. The form will be tested tomorrow at Turffontein when Mike de Kock’s filly takes on the boys in Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1800m.

Orchestrated carries just 52.5kg and jumps from barrier No 2.

Justin Snaith saddles three runners and the best of his could be Masterly, who has won his last four starts in Port Elizabeth, although they were on the Polytrack. However, he has performed well enough on the turf and must be considered for top honours, considering he has a No 3 draw, just 52kg on his back and Keagan de Melo in the irons.

Mountain Master has a 4kg weight turnaround with Krambambuli for a 5.90-length beating and they should go a lot closer this time.
