Unbelievable Chad looking to make amends

It would not have been surprising if South African swimming sensation Chad le Clos had muttered the word unbelievable when his colt Unbelievable Chad ran into trouble just when it looked like he could go on to win on debut.

Hopefully this time around the likable Chad will be saying unbelievable in a positive way when Unbelievable Chad wins Race 1 a Maiden Plate over 1200m at Scottsville today.

The Toreador colt found support on debut after his trainer let on he was expecting a good run.

Unbelievable Chad had no problem with the course and distance and is sure to come on from that debut.

There are a few runners with fair in the race such as Hot Chilli, Eternal Ice and Powder Keg so it is not a foregone conclusion that Unbelievable Chad will win.

The first-timer, the well-bred Trippi colt, Ferrie has also to be respected.

Probably the most interesting race on the day is Race 6, a MR 89 Divided Handicap for fillies and mares over 1200m which two unbeaten fillies could fight out.

Cosmic Light from the Duncan Howells yard won her debut in June over this course and distance then followed up with another solid effort by beating Rebel To The Fore at Greyville a month later.

Jockey Muzi Yeni was aboard her for both wins and again gets the ride.

Mark My Card who is a year older interestingly enough is in receipt of 1kg after two wins over this track and trip.

De La Rio, in Race 4, was disqualified when winning at Scottsville in May and could be looking for this longer trip and is my banker bet for the race meeting.

This Lundy’s Liability gelding could prove to be a bit better than his modest rivals.
