Eagles set to release ex-Pirates defender

Struggling GladAfrica Championship side, Royal Eagles are said to have terminated Ayanda Gcaba's contract just a few weeks after he was signed.

The team are said to be struggling financially and Gcaba’s hefty pay cheque was no longer affordable.

“They found a youngster who is as capable as Gcaba and of course his salary will be much lower. The youngster has had trials at AmaZulu and was once on a month-long trial with a German club but he was too young then and couldn’t adapt in a foreign land,” said a source.

Phakaaathi has found out that the youngster’s name is Siphesihle Mtshali and it appears as if there are a few more players said to be on their way out.

Meanwhile, as reported earlier, Pirates have a conundrum in respect of Austin Muwowo’s stay at the club.

The Zambian has struggled for game time since joining in August and there are now rumours that he might be loaned out for the rest of the season to help him get some game time.
