Glad Africa side close to signing former Sundowns star

“The talks are close to being finalized," said a Phakaaathi source close to the deal.

Polokwane City are said to be close to netting former Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits star, Elias Pelembe, Phakaaathi has heard.

Pelembe last played for Wits before the first lockdown in March last year. When the club closed down during lockdown, Pelembe went home to Mozambique and couldn’t come back when the league resumed in the Bio-Bubble and the borders were closed.

His contract was then terminated but he has made his way back to South Africa and Rise and Shine are likely to be his next club.

“The talks are close to being finalized. The club need him and they have made that clear but it was a matter of agreeing on terms as you know that fees are always big factor in such negotiations while money is not free-flowing in the GladAfrica Championship,” said a source close to the Limpopo side.

City recently hired veteran coach, Johnny Ferreira who is tasked with bringing them back to the top flight within the next two years. Pelembe is seen by the club as the creative force they have been
lacking.
