CAF still hoping SuperSport will show Ghana vs Bafana match

As it stands, SuperSport have said they will not be showing the qualifiers, following the collapse of CAF’s deal with French media conglomerate the Lagardere Group.

The Confederation of African Football are speaking to SuperSport in the hope of striking a deal with the South African broadcaster to show the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, including Bafana Bafana’s clash with Ghana at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.

As it stands, SuperSport have said they will not be showing the qualifiers, following the collapse of CAF’s deal with French media conglomerate the Lagardere Group.

CAF announced this weekend that they had cancelled their contract with Lagardere, while SuperSport said they could not show the games, because their TV rights deal had been with Lagardere.

Phakaaathi has learned, however, that Caf have already agreed a deal with pay-tv network beIN Sports to show the games, after they had also initially pulled out over the collapse of the Lagardere deal, and are speaking to SuperSport as well.

Bafana’s 2021 Afcon qualifier against Sudan on Sunday, meanwhile, will be shown on the SABC as part of a separate deal with the South African Football Association.
