Mahlangu’s advice to Chiefs youngster

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Jabu Mahlangu has advised Amakhosi young defender Siyabonga Ngezana to be mindful of the company he keeps.

Ngezana has made a dream start to his career at Chiefs after scoring a goal against Mamelodi Sundowns and playing in his first Soweto derby appearance.

The 19-year-old comes from the club’s development structures, much like Mahlangu who was promoted to the first team by Muhsin Ertugral.

Mahlangu, who was known as Jabu Pule at the time,  played for seasons for Chiefs before he was in the papers for all the wrong reason prompting the club to sell him to Austrian side SV Mattersburg.

“He (Ngezama) needs to choose his friends wisely because many people will be around him because he plays for a big team and has money. When you lose all of that, the friends disappear,” Mahlangu told Isolezwe.

“He needs to focus on his game and on getting better. Fame shouldn’t go to his head. He needs to listen to all the players that have walked this road before, especially the retired players. He needs to stay close to his family because they will always be there, that helped me too,” added Mahlangu.
