Swallows fly back into NFD

Premier Soccer League chairperson Dr Irvin Khoza has confirmed that Moroka Swallows will be playing in the National First Division in the new season.

Swallows bought the NFD status of Maccabi FC in the offseason with Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi pushing for the Dube Birds’ return to the second tier.

The Dube Birds have been playing in the ABC Motsepe Gauteng League will be in the NFD in the new season.

Maccabi FC boss Alan Norman confirmed before the big announcement that he had sold the club but didn’t want to speak on the deal.

The deal will see Swallows get the NFD status and the players from Maccabi FC.

“We would like to thank PSL chairperson Dr Khoza for [the] support he has given us. He gave us much needed strength to carry on. We thank you chair, Panyaza Lesufi and David Mogashoa,” read a statement from Swallows.
