Chiefs exit was the worst moment of my career – Chirambadare

Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edmore Chirambadare says being released by Amakhosi was the worst thing that happened in his football career.

Chirambadare, who now plays for Real Kings in the GladAfrica Championship, was axed by Chiefs in August last year after being deemed surplus to requirements at the Naturena-based club.

“Coming to play at Chiefs was the best thing that happened but when I was released it hurt me,” Chirambadare was quoted as saying by Isolezwe.

The 27-year-old reflected on the pressure of trying to emulate fellow Zimbabwean players who did well at Amakhosi.

“Being at Chiefs was a difficult time in my life. When you get to Chiefs as a player from Zimbabwe you are told about the history of other Zimbabweans who were part of the team. I did my best at Chiefs but it didn’t work out for me.

“There was a lot of pressure, having to walk in their shoes and achieve what they have with Chiefs. You feel it when you are told about the other Zimbabwean players.”
