Arthur Mafokate calls for swift overseas move for Baartman

“Please try and get him a deal overseas before it’s too late. For four weeks I have been saying this," says Mafokate.

Luke Baartman, the 17-year-old striker from Cape Town Spurs, is currently one of the most talked-about players in the DStv Premiership

His recent performances have captured the attention of local football enthusiasts, particularly in matches against two of South Africa’s most supported clubs, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

In the Carling Knockout Cup clash against Pirates, Baartman made a cameo appearance and posed challenging questions to their formidable defence.

He followed it up with another impressive showing as a substitute in the league game where Spurs upset Pirates. Spurs beat Pirates 2-1.

However, it was against Chiefs that Baartman left a lasting impression, scoring his first goal for the senior team against the renowned goalkeeper, Itumeleng Khune.

He found the net with a well-taken, deflected shot in the dying minutes of their 3-2 loss at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Khune’s post-match gesture of hugging and encouraging the young talent spoke volumes. He appeared to be encouraging the young lad.

Arthur Mafokate wants Baartman overseas

Even famous music mogul Arthur Mafokate, a devoted football enthusiast and Pirates supporter, has shared his thoughts on Baartman.

Mafokate, a legendary figure in the Kwaito music genre, believes that Baartman’s agent should not delay and should work on securing him an overseas move as soon as possible.

Baartman’s recent performances suggest that he has the potential to make a significant impact in football.

And, as Mafokate suggests, an overseas move could be a key step in his promising career.

Mafokate posted a picture of Baartman on his Facebook account and captioned it: “Dear agent of this boy…

“Please try and get him a deal overseas before it’s too late. For four weeks I have been saying this.

“And I think even trials might just assist his talent (to grow).”
