Bafana need a coach who understands SA football – Furman

SuperSport United midfielder Dean Furman was disappointed to see coach Stuart Baxter resign as head coach of Bafana Bafana.

Baxter stepped down as Bafana coach earlier this month and Furman hopes Safa appoints a coach who will pick up where Baxter left off and help South Africa qualify for tournaments.

“Very disappointed to be honest as a coach that I have worked with for a long time, he is a fantastic coach and a fantastic coach who gave everything for his players,” said Furman.

“I was disappointed to see the way things were perceived over here and unfortunately you are going to be criticised that is the role of a coach.

“I thought continuity was key with Bafana, I don’t know what the plans are going forward but it seems like it was all going to start again. Which is a disappointment after getting to the quarterfinals of the Afcon.

“I want a coach who understands South African football a coach who understands players someone who can help progress from where we left off.”
