Banyana nominated for Caf Team of the Year award

South Africa’s national women’s team has been nominated by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the women’s National Team of the Year award after an impressive year under interim coach Desiree Ellis.


The categories include Women’s Player of the Year, National Team of the Year (Men & Women), Youth Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year and Referee of the Year.

Other South Africans up for honours are Chrestina Kgatlana for Women’s Player of the Year, SuperSport United for Club of the Year and Luther Singh for Youth Player of the Year.

The winners will be decided by votes from the members of the CAF Technical & Development Committee, CAF Media Experts Panel and Independent Media and TV Consultants.

The Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, January 4 in Accra, Ghana.
