Benni gives up on title race
Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy has conceded that his side is out of the Absa Premiership race.

City suffered a major setback when they lost 1-0 to Steve Komphela’s Golden Arrows over the weekend.
“Any coach would love to finish in first position, but the reality is that we are out of it, we can only finish between second and fourth position,” McCarthy said after the Arrows defeat. “For us now it’s just about making sure we finish the season in high spirits.”
With five games left this season, City could still finish in the top three and qualify for Caf competitions. McCarthy is not excited about that, saying he does not have big squads like Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates to compete in Africa.
“I think for the players it would be nice to play in Africa, but we need to be honest, we don’t have the luxury of a big squad like Sundowns and Pirates, we are just a small team, we can’t handle too many games.”
