Chiefs legend calls for patience with embattled Baxter

Baxter has been under pressure at the Naturena-based outfit.

Recently retired former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane reckons Amakhosi head coach Stuart Baxter needs time to get things right at the club, time, which he unfortunately doesn’t have.

Baxter has been under pressure at the Naturena-based outfit for some time now following some poor results, especially the 4-1 loss to new boys on the block Royal AM and playing to a goalless draw with Marumo Gallants.

Despite having some quality players like Keagan Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti and Phatutshedzo Nange to mention a few, whom they were all brought in at the start of this season, Amakhosi haven’t been able to get the desired results, but Letsholonyane is hopeful things will get better.

“Everything that you start seldom starts going OK overnight,” Letsholonyane was quoted by Times Live .“I think it’s early days and Stuart and the technical team need time. Unfortunately, when you are involved with that team, time is not a luxury.  Yes, the team has bought many talented, good players. But they need time to get used to each other.  And I think they will come right. It’s just a matter of time. And then, yeah, it’s just a matter of them working hard to make that possible and to make sure that it doesn’t take them longer to get used to each other.”

Letsholonyane, also believes the players also need to go an extra mile to take the club where they want it to be and warns that nothing comes easy.

“Unfortunately it is seldom the case (coaches don’t have time at a team like Chiefs) but a bit of patience, a bit of hard work from the players, and I believe that eventually, things will come right,” he continued.

“But nothing will come easy – that’s a definite. Nothing will just miraculously happen overnight. And effort needs to be put in, and the results will show.”
