Chiefs an unknown side for Jonevret

Having watched the Soweto derby once, new Orlando Pirates head coach Kjell Jonevret plans to use the days leading up to Saturday to study Kaizer Chiefs.

Jonevret was announced as Pirates coach a week ago and has coached the Sea Robbers in one match against Polokwane City. The Swedish mentor joins Eric Tinkler on the list of coaches that had to lead one of the PSL giants in the Soweto derby in his first or second game in charge.

The Sea Robbers looked a revived side when they went in search of their first victory in 10 games against Polokwane City. With their last victory coming against Chippa United in November 2016, they will look to crown Jonevret’s arrival with a victory against crosstown rivals.

The Stockholm-born coach is not intimidated by the clash against Chiefs. Both side come into this match having dropped two points from their respective matches against Rise and Shine and Ajax Cape Town.

“No, I haven’t seen enough of Chiefs,” Jonevret said as quoted by the SowetanLIVE.

“I saw the derby when they broadcast it on Swedish television last year. I think I have a lot of time this week, and we have a good team of analysts.”

“But we are also going to take a lot of time to see what we did [against Polokwane] and maybe what we can do better against Chiefs.”
