Football legend slams Safa president

Black Leopards team manager Mlungisi “Professor” Ngubane says SA Football Association (Safa) president Danny Jordaan needs to step down to allow someone who is passionate about South African football to lead the association.

Ngubane believes ex-professionals are better suited to lead the football body.

The newly appointed Leopards team manager added that former footballers, who are experienced coaches, need to be roped into Bafana Bafana’s technical team.

“What is disappointing is from 1992 we have been on this ‘learning curve’, I don’t know how big this ‘learning curve’ is. Up to now 2019 learning curve? No please! I think we need to change everything at Safa and bring in people who have passion about football and the interest of the country. People who vote for Jordaan must change now because he is letting our country down,” Ngubane told LimSportsZone.

“Our Under-20 are coached by a person who has never played football in his life, our senior team coached by Baxter an unknown coach.

“The mother body looks like they don’t want to improve our national country because Bafana Bafana is a national asset but its run like a club that belongs to Danny Jordaan,” he added.

“No country will go play such a big tournament (the Afcon) with only one coach in Baxter. Mark Fish was playing golf but they called him to come and help but he has never coached, he is not a coach, and he said he doesn’t have plans to coach in the future.”
