Klate explains why he retired from football

Retired Chippa United star Daine Klate says he hopes to inspire the youth in communities around Port Elizabeth by coaching youngsters.

Klate has been appointed as Chippa’s Multichoice Diski Challenge for next season and is set to join Clinton Larsen’s technical team.

Having won six league titles with Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, Klate says he had achieved all that he could achieve in his career and looks forward to the new challenge.

“There is still a lot still left in me but I decided while I am still relevant let me call it,” Klate told Metro FM.

“I am retiring at a time when people say you can still go on. It was all about timing, I am fulfilled and content, everyone around me is said that I am retiring except me. I am looking forward to what life has in store for me.”

Meanwhile, Klate does not rule out the possibility of returning to Johannesburg to work at former side Orlando Pirates someday.
