Dondol keeper Siphamandla Gumede earns PSL interest

'Gumede is being assessed and if he fits what Gavin (Hunt) wants, then he will definitely be signed,' said a source.

Dondol Stars are likely to be without their goalkeeper Sphamandla Gumede next season because he has attracted a lot of interest from DStv Premiership teams.

Rumours doing the rounds suggest that SuperSport United are the front runners in the race for Gumede’s signature.

Gumede is a product of the Matsatsantsa a Pitori development structures. He left when he left he was ready for big team action but was not promoted at the time.

And now that he has been doing well at the ABC Motsepe League Gauteng champions, Gumede is on the wanted list of a number of PSL clubs.

“There are clubs in the first division who are also eyeing him. But as things stand now, SuperSport are the more likely destination for him.

“You must remember that Ricardo Goss could go back to (Mamelodi) Sundowns next season and SuperSport will be left thin in that department.

“So Gumede is being assessed and if he fits what Gavin (Hunt) wants, then he will definitely be signed,” said a source.

Gumede could fit at Pirates

Orlando Pirates have also been mentioned as one of the team who have sent out fillers on the young keeper.

The Soweto giants are actively looking for a keeper with Siyabonga Mpontshane likely to hang his boots at the end of the season.
