Mabaso and Mntambo facing uncertain futures at Pirates

Phakaaathi has learnt that Orlando Pirates will likely send Abel Mabaso and Linda Mntambo out on loan during the January transfer period.

The duo is yet to make an appearance for the Buccaneers this season.

Last season Mabaso made only four appearances in all competitions for Pirates, while Mntambo made 15.

“Mabaso and Mntambo will either be loaned out or released in January. They are not contributing much in the team and they’re not pushing hard to get game time at Pirates, so the management will sit with them in January and mop the way forward,” a source close to Pirates told Phakaaathi.

“They were not in the coach’s plans for this season and the club tried to send them back to Chippa on loan, but no deal could be reached. They could well go back to Chippa, but that will depend on negotiations,” added the source.

Mabaso and Mntambo joined Pirates from Chippa United before the start of the 2018/19 season.
