Moriri set for dramatic Sundowns return

Surprise Moriri has reportedly returned to former club Mamelodi Sundowns to help groom the next generations of football stars.

According to TimesLive, negotiations between the retired player and Sundowns are at an advanced stage and will start working as the Brazilians development coach this week.

“I can confirm that I have retired from football as a player to focus on coaching‚” Moriri is quoted as saying.

“It was not an easy decision to make because playing football has been a part of my life for many years.

“But it is time to move on and start a new chapter in my life‚ producing other Surprise Moriris out there.

“Last season‚ I started doing my coaching badges and managed to obtain a Caf B License and my focus going forward will be on helping younger players to fulfil their potential.

“It is something that I have thought long and hard about and I am looking forward to the challenge of becoming a coach.”

Moriri, who spent half of last season with Highlands Park to try and help them survive relegation, joins a list of former Sundowns players such as Michael Manzini‚ Godfery Sapula and Esrom Nyandoro who have been employed by the club as scouts and development coaches.
