The SuperSport United defender said his side are not going to play into the hands of The Birds as they know how lethal they can be when it comes to the counter attack.

Swallows coach Bredon Truter usually attacks with a front three with Ruzaigh Gamildien as the focal point of the front line, while the likes of Dillion Solomons, and Khetukuthula Ndlovu usually flank him, providing much pace which, according to Nhlapo, could hurt SuperSport’s young defence.

“Swallows are a well-coached team and they haven’t changed the system that they were using in the GladAfrica Championship, that means they believe in it,” said Nhlapho.

“They will do what they need to do and we will do likewise but we cannot just go there and play an open game because they are a counter-attacking team. We just need to be stable and concentrate so that when our chance comes we will pounce. We are playing a good team that is high on confidence and they are still in the top eight so for us it is just to go there and stick to our basics and try to get maximum points,” he added.

Matsatsantsa A Pitori are among the five sides that are yet to taste defeat in the DStv Premiership this season as they drew their opener against Cape Town City, beat Golden Arrows 3-1 before drawing blanks with AmaZulu. In that, Nhlapho says the camp is pleased with its performance and hopes to grind out results away from home, targeting more than the tally of 17 away points they collected last season.

“We are not too far off from our targets and our start this season has been strong like the previous season. We need to maintain and be consistent and try to get points away from home like we did against AmaZulu because away games have been our Achilles, we need to try and get maximum points at home because we don’t struggle a lot at home. We just need to stabilize at the back and get more clean sheets as possible then chances of winning the game will be much higher if we manage to do that.”
