No more draws, says AmaZulu’s Buchanan ahead of Pirates meeting
With nine draws, Usuthu have recorded the highest stalemates to date in the league whilst the Buccaneers have seven.

If there is one thing common about AmaZulu FC and Orlando Pirates, is the high number of draws the teams have registered so far in the first half of the season ahead of their DStv Premiership meeting at the Jonssons Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday.

With nine draws, AmaZulu have recorded the highest stalemates to date in the league, as well as three wins and two losses in their last 14 matches putting them in ninth place on the log, while seventh placed Bucs have recorded seven draws, four wins and two losses from 13 games.
This is something Usuthu midfielder Keagan Buchanan is eager to see change for the men from KwaZulu-Natal when they host Pirates, a side he says has a lot of quality.
“I think it’s going to be a tough game just like any other. And obviously playing against Pirates, they have good quality. But they have also been playing a lot of draws like us. But it’s going to be a good game, with a good brand of football from the two teams. We just have to implement what the coach has planned and we know that we have been good, but we just need to get over the line and get three points,” said the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder.
“So, we know what we need to do. We are going to go out and fight so that we can finally get three points and turn that one point into three.”
Usuthu go into this tie having played to a goalless draw against Royal AM in their last game, whereas the Buccaneers were also held to the same score-line by Baroka FC.
“I think we dominated the game (against Royal AM), if not the majority of the game. We played some good football and we obviously knew that the end result depends on putting the ball in the back of the net. We have been working on it at training and now it’s up to us to take that initiative and make sure that we score the goals. We have been doing well at the back, we just have to convert our chances, be more clinical and we will get three points.”
The last time these teams met the Soweto giants walked away as 1-0 winners thanks to a Gabadinho Mhango late goal.
