No place for Chiefs midfielder in Zimbabwe squad – report

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambwa is set to snub Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande from his squad.

According to reports coming out of Zimbabwe, Katsande will not be included in the squad to face Congo Brazzaville in the 2019 Afcon Qualifiers next month.

According to NewsDay, Chidzambwa believes Katsande needs to make way for new and younger players.

Katsande retired from international football but later came out of retirement.

“Coming back to the Warriors was a bad idea, and he was badly exposed in the match against Liberia. We have decided to look for other players who can play better in his position,” a source told NewsDay. “Remember, we included him in the team because Danny Phiri was injured, but he has recovered now and is available for selection.”

Chidzambwa was expected to name a provisional squad this week but postponed the announcement because the Zimbabwean Football Association (Zifa) officials are in South Africa.
