The two sides meet in the final at a sold-out Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday.

Pirates are yet to beat Sekhukhune this season, with Babina Noko earning four points against the Buccaneers in the DStv Premiership.

Truter’s team beat Pirates 2-0 in the first round of the league and then held the Buccaneers to a 1-1 draw in the second round.

Despite this, Truter believes that Pirates are favourites to win the final especially after their emphatic 4-0 win over AmaZulu in their last league of the season.

“Looking at their last game against AmaZulu, they created so many goal scoring chances and they also had the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch coming back for that game and he is a big game player,” said Truter.

“We will soak up the pressure and try to get them on a counter-attack. Looking at their game plan, they overload so much on attack and that is their strength at the moment. We will have to see how we can overcome that.”

Truter is hoping to have a full squad for this clash against Pirates.

“A few players were still busy with fitness tests this morning (Thursday). We only had two training sessions after our last league game. But we hope everyone will be available.”

The Sekhukhune coach also added that the preparations for the final have been going well.

“Preparations have been going well this week, we just finished our session before coming here (press conference). Tomorrow is just a bit of intro to the stadium so that the guys can get used to it. But, otherwise it (preparing for the game),” he continued.

Truter also congratulated Pirates and their coach Jose Riveiro for winning the last Q-Innovation in the league.

“Also, I would like to congratulate Pirates for winning the last Q-Innovation. They are absolutely favourites for this (final). They have done well coming into this game and their coach as well.”
