A teenager, allegedly raped by Okpara's son in 2016, is believed to be related to a Gauteng MEC.

Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper William Okpara’s son stands accused of raping a minor.

Okpara’s son, named William Okpara Jr, stands accused of raping a minor back in 2016.

The case was opened in 2018, after someone close to the victim alerted her family. It will go to trial from March, with Okpara Jr pleading not guilty.

According to Sunday World, the teenage victim is related to a Gauteng MEC, who arranged for her to see a social worker to explain what happened to her at Okpara’s home in Gallo Manor in Sandton.

It is reported the teenager tried to commit suicide after she was allegedly raped.

She has reportedly since recovered and managed to pass matric.

“[The rape] disturbed her, because she tried to commit suicide but we as a family tried to intervene and did the best we could to keep her motivated about life,” the unnamed MEC told Sunday World. “We are happy that she passed and it shows that she is strong and our support means a lot.”
