Radebe tips Komphela and Benni for Bafana job

Lucas Radebe has advised the SA football Association (Safa) to consider appointing Steve Komphela as Bafana Bafana coach and Benni McCarthy as his assistant.

Safa are currently looking for a permanent national team coach following Stuart Baxter’s resignation earlier this month.

“Let’s have Steve Komphela (if he is available) in the position and perhaps have Benni McCarthy as his assistant,” Radebe told the Daily Sun.

“I think we need to change the strategy and the structure. We need people who will work together, who will help each other. We have to put the egos aside and make sure we get two good coaches in the country,” added the former Bafana Bafana captain.

“We should look at those kinds of coaches, local coaches… not only the people we the public can support, but that Safa can also support. We’ve had a couple of coaches in the last few years. It has got to a point where it has become disrupting. There is no consistency. The leadership is also not helping with the decision making.

“There is a public outcry about where our football is going.”
