Sono undeterred by Nedbank cup exit

Jomo Cosmos coach Jomo Sono believes his side can compete against Absa Premiership side.

Despite being eliminated from the Nedbank Cup in the quarterfinal Sono remains upbeat following is sides 1-0 defeat.

Lerato Manzini’s 72nd strike was the only goal produced by the enterprising game.

“They gave a good account of themselves, I think they played very, very well,” Sono told SuperSport TV.
“If you look at our goalkeeper [Thabo Modiba], the only thing he had to do was to pick up the ball in the net and that was it. Especially in the second half we improved and got better as the match went on and on. I’m very proud of them and maybe also this will encourage them in their next eight [Ed: seven] games in the league.”

He added: “There was no difference between the premier and the NFD, there was no difference. We took control in the second half, they kept possession but not that dangerous possession because they were playing just in front of us, and we were happy for them to play in front of us. They got that one chance and they used it, that is professional.”
