Stars ready for ‘vengeful’ Pirates

Free State Stars captain Paulus Masehe believes Orlando Pirates will be out for revenge when the clubs meet in the Nedbank Cup clash on Saturday night.

A week after beating Pirates 3-2 in a league match, Ea Lla Koto will host the Buccaneers at the James Motlatsi Stadium at 8.15pm.

“It’s not going to be easy match having played them the past weekend. I am sure they have gone back to the drawing board to rectify their mistakes,” Masehe told his club’s website.

“To be honest as much as we are focusing on the league, we also want to at least go as far as we can in the Nedbank Cup.

“If one goes back to last season they knocked us out in the semi-final of the very same cup. The game on Saturday will be sort of some ‘revenge’ in a way.

“The games are coming in thick and fast and we need to focus and one hopes that the guys will take the past weekend league’s performance into the cup match. It’s been a while since we last tasted the cup victory.”

Meanwhile, Stars’ physiotherapist Ryan Coert has ruled out Allen Nono, Thokozane Sekotlong and Nyiko Tshabangu for the game while Masehe, himself, is doubtful for this encounter because of a niggling injury.
