We’ve learnt from last season’s mistakes – Percy Tau

Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Percy Tau says his Absa Premiership table-topping side does not want to repeat the mistake that they made last season and let the league title slip away.

Masandawana’s 1-0 win over second-placed Cape Town City has given the Chloorkop-based outfit some breathing space at the summit of the log. However, last season saw Downs drawing their final three games of the season which allowed Bidvest Wits to claim the title ahead of the Brazilians by three points.

“Last season we lost the league in our last three games. We are trying to improve on that and we are much stronger now. We have new signings that are helping us so hopefully we will work hard and win the league,” Tau told SuperSport TV.

“We need to keep on going. We are still going to have tough games,” he added.

Tau, who is tipped for a move abroad, walked away with the Man-of-the-Match award against City after magically creating Khama Billiat’s sixth goal of the campaign. The 23-year-old says City gave them a run for their money.

“We knew it was not going to be easy, they were playing at home and have beaten us in the last three games. We knew that they were going to give us a hard time, they are second on the log. We had to being in our A game and it worked out. I think we really worked hard and this is the reward of the hard work.”
