Players are frustrated with referees – Tembo

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo says the outcry over bad officiating in the Absa Premiership is justified.

Tembo is the latest coach to complain about match officials after his side drew 2-2 with Black Leopards on Friday at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

A United player allegedly had a go at referees in the tunnel after the match but was stopped from entering the officials’ change room by a security guard.

“It’s not my business to talk about referees because it’s not going to change anything. It’s what we have. We have to deal with that even though it’s frustrating but what can we do, but what can we do? That’s what we have. We have to deal with that. It’s disappointing,” Tembo told reporters.

“Players are frustrated because you come in, you work hard then one moment, and someone just decides the game. But that’s what we have, let’s deal with it.

“I don’t want to talk about referees because what can you says, that’s the quality you have we musyt move on, what can I do, that’s why players end up taking things into their own hands because they are frustrated. We saw with [Mpho] Makola, [Gaston] Sirino. I don’t want to talk about the referees to be honest.”

Cape Town City coach Benni McCarthy and Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane have voiced their displeasure about the officiating in the PSL this season.
