Swallows show interest in ex-Chiefs star Tshabalala

Swallows FC are said to be considering signing former Kaizer Chiefs winger, Siphiwe Tshabalala who is currently without a club after leaving Turkish side Erzurumspor.

Shabba, as Tshabalala is fondly known is said to be interested in what Swallows have to say but a Phakaaathi source said monetary demands might scupper any deal.

“Shabba will not come cheap and that is a fact. So we know we have to tread carefully because we don’t need a situation where other players will be uncomfortable knowing that there is this one player who is on a big salary,” said the source.

But the club is said to also be interested in Shabba, because he could be the draw card that brings the supporters back to Dobsonville Stadium in big numbers.

Meanwhile, Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp and goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi were on Thursday named as the Absa Premiership Coach and Player of the Month for September/October.

During this period, Chiefs won an impressive four games and suffered just one defeat, registering 12 points from a possible 15 in process and extending their lead at the top of the standings to 10 points.
