This is the second time that the Bafana Bafana star has won the award, becoming the first player this season to do so.

Tau’s first time winning the award was on matchday one when he netted a brace against rivals Ismaily in the game that Al Ahly won 4-0.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Brighton star has been having a remarkable start to life in Egypt, scoring five goals in the opening six games of the Egyptian Premier League.

He scored a brace in Al Ahly’s last game against Smouha, which the Red Devils won 4-1 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly legend Ahmed Shobeir has praised Tau and has asked the people who were claiming that the Bafana star suffers from chronic injury to apologise as he’s proven them wrong.

“Percy Tau deserves the praise, he scored five goals in six appearances with Al Ahly, whoever said he suffers a chronic injury should apologize,” Shobeir said as quoted by Kingfut.
